I pray that all of you have had an enjoyable New Year’s celebration and will have a terrific 2015. As K.I.N.G., we are expecting 2015 to be our best year yet! To start off on the right foot, we are asking all K.I.N.G. members to join us in a 21-day Daniel Fast from Monday, January 5 – Monday, January 26 (meaning the fast ends at 12 a.m. on the 26th). This, of course, is a fast named after the Prophet Daniel when he went on a three-week fast while in Babylon.

“In those days, I, Daniel, had been mourning for three entire weeks. I did not eat any tasty food, nor did meat or wine enter my mouth,
nor did I use any ointment at all until the entire three weeks were completed.” (Daniel 10:2-3)

We will fast like Daniel, except we will use “ointment”(shower) to keep ourselves clean, lol!

As part of the fast, K.I.N.G. is asking all leaders to partake in a 5:30 a.m. Prayer Call Monday through Friday. All K.I.N.G. members are welcome on the call, but a leader will lead the prayer each day. The number to call is our usual Conference Call number: (712) 432-0075, code 514320

K.I.N.G. is fasting with a purpose. We ask each brother to pray daily for these five things:

  1. For K.I.N.G.’s leadership, infrastructure, legalities and chapter growth and development
  2. For the United States of America; specifically for a spiritual revival and for true racial justice and equality
  3. For the African-American community; specifically for improved educational opportunities and performance, economic empowerment, justice, men and families
  4. For unity across racial, denominational and political lines within the Body of Christ
  5. A personal breakthrough in your own life


All fruits. These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned. Fruits include but are not limited to apples, apricots, bananas, blackberries, blueberries, boysenberries, cantaloupe, cherries, cranberries, figs, grapefruit, grapes, guava, honeydew melon, kiwi, lemons, limes, mangoes, nectarines, oranges, papayas, peaches, pears, pineapples, plums, prunes, raisins, raspberries, strawberries, tangelos, tangerines, watermelon
All vegetables. These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned. Vegetables include but are not limited to artichokes, asparagus, beets, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chili peppers, collard greens, corn, cucumbers, eggplant, garlic, ginger root, kale, leeks, lettuce, mushrooms, mustard greens, okra, onions, parsley, potatoes, radishes, rutabagas, scallions, spinach, sprouts, squashes, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, turnips, watercress, yams, zucchini, veggie burgers are an option if you are not allergic to soy.
All whole grains including but not limited to whole wheat, brown rice, millet, quinoa, oats, barley, grits, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat tortillas, rice cakes and popcorn.
All nuts and seeds including but not limited to sunflower seeds, cashews, peanuts, sesame. Also nut butters including peanut butter (no sugar added).
All legumes; these can be canned or dried. Legumes include but are not limited to dried beans, pinto beans, split peas, lentils, black eyed peas, kidney beans, black beans, cannellini beans, white beans.
All quality oils including but not limited to olive, canola, grape seed, peanut, and sesame.
Beverages: spring water, distilled water or other pure waters. Water only.
Other: tofu, soy products, vinegar, seasonings, salt, herbs and spices.


All meat and animal products, including but not limited to beef, lamb, pork, poultry, and fish.
All dairy products, including but not limited to milk, cheese, cream, butter, and eggs.
All sweeteners, including but not limited to sugar, raw sugar, honey, syrups, molasses, and cane juice.
All leavened bread, including Ezekiel Bread (it contains yeast and honey) and baked goods.
All refined and processed food products, including but not limited to artificial flavorings, food additives, chemicals, white rice, white flour, and foods that contain artificial preservatives.
All deep fried foods, including but not limited to potato chips, French fries, corn chips.
All solid fats, including shortening, margarine, lard and foods high in fat.
Beverages including but not limited to coffee, tea, herbal teas, carbonated beverages, energy drinks, flavored water and alcohol.
